Position: Research Manager - Neuroscience & Regenerative Medicine

Job Overview:

The Research Manager will engage in advanced scientific and administrative functions to support research initiatives within a laboratory or clinical research environment. This role involves participating in the collection and documentation of research data while adhering to established guidelines and protocols. The successful candidate will develop and assess innovative research techniques and publish findings in reputable scientific journals. Responsibilities will encompass a variety of complex procedures including chemical, biological, cytological, microscopic, histological, surgical, clinical, statistical, computational, and dissection tasks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to project planning and the formulation of research protocols, ensuring compliance with recognized scientific research standards and federal regulations.
  • Conduct a range of experimental studies, including electrophysiology, cell biology, and molecular biology experiments. Tasks may involve animal surgery, genotyping, western blotting, ELISA, real-time PCR, immunohistochemistry, and the collection and dissection of biological tissues.
  • Analyze experimental results using confocal and brightfield imaging techniques, and develop specialized software as needed for data analysis.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of experimental outcomes through updated spreadsheets.
  • Oversee breeding colonies, manage treatments for specific disease models, and perform genotyping on transgenic models.
  • Ensure the continuous operation of the research laboratory, including ordering supplies and managing budgets.
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of students, graduate assistants, and other research personnel involved in laboratory tasks.
  • Provide guidance to principal investigators and research staff on research methodologies and technical procedures.
  • Operate and instruct others on the use of complex scientific equipment, including microscopes and analytical devices.


Qualifications:

Ph.D. in a relevant field with at least one year of applicable experience, or a Master's degree with a minimum of five years of progressive experience in grant management and quality assurance. Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree with eight years of relevant experience is acceptable.

Skills and Competencies:

Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with research animals. Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills are essential. The candidate should be detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple tasks effectively. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software is required, along with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Work Schedule and Benefits:

This position typically follows a Monday to Friday schedule, with potential for work outside of standard hours. Compensation will be commensurate with qualifications, and a comprehensive benefits package is available, including health and dental insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
