We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Construction Materials Engineering Technician to join our team at S&ME. As a key member of our Construction Services team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and integrity of construction materials.

Responsibilities:
  • Review and analyze plans, specifications, and documentation to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Conduct field testing and inspections of construction materials, including soil, concrete, masonry, and asphalt.
  • Utilize field and laboratory information management systems to efficiently organize and analyze data.
  • Maintain accurate records of testing results and observations.
  • Communicate effectively with management, contractors, and clients to relay project progress and address concerns.
Requirements:
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • 0-2 years of experience in construction testing and inspections.
  • Effective communication skills, including speaking, reading, and writing in English.
  • Basic math skills, including understanding of weight, volume, pressure, and units of measure.
  • The ability to complete data entry into multiple software applications on a smart device.
  • One or more active certifications, such as ACI Field Testing Grade I, Strength Testing Technician, or Laboratory Technician, are a plus.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Walk over rough and uneven terrain.
  • Stand for up to 8 hours a day, with occasional 12-hour shifts.
  • Lift and carry 40-50 pounds of field and laboratory samples and equipment.
  • Travel out-of-town for assignments, typically overnight.
