About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Conflict Resolution Specialist to join our team as an Ombuds Office Representative. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, supporting the University of Cincinnati's commitment to creating a conflict-competent campus community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide confidential and impartial support to faculty, staff, students, and other university community members in navigating conflicts and concerns.
  • Exercise sound judgment and discretion in the intake, informal inquiry, conflict analysis, and formulation of options and strategies for engagement/resolution of complex concerns.
  • Collaborate with the University Ombuds and other team members to identify and address systemic issues and trends in conflicts and concerns.
  • Develop and deliver training and educational programs on conflict engagement, dispute resolution, and communication skills for various campus groups.
  • Represent the Ombuds Office through committee participation, presentations, and outreach to raise visibility and integrate conflict competence principles into campus culture.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field, or equivalent experience.
  • Seven years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.
  • Three years of related experience in ombuds work, conflict resolution, higher education, mediation, and/or negotiation or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in Higher Education, Dispute Resolution, Organizational Management, or other related field.
  • Experience in a university environment.
  • Demonstrated skills in mediation, facilitated dialogue, restorative justice, dispute systems designs, conflict coaching, and/or executive/leadership coaching.
