General Responsibilities:
We are seeking a qualified K-12 Music Educator to enhance student learning and development through a structured music curriculum. The role involves implementing district-approved educational programs, tracking student progress, and catering to the diverse educational needs of students. The educator will create a safe and engaging learning atmosphere while providing constructive feedback to students, parents, and administration regarding academic performance and objectives.
Terms of Employment:
Salary: $55,104, DOE + credits
Requirements: BA in Music or Music Education with a current WA State teaching certificate and appropriate endorsements for grades and subject.
Essential Functions:
- Fosters a supportive educational environment that promotes student growth and development.
- Designs a comprehensive music program and organizes class time effectively for preparation, rehearsal, and instruction.
- Facilitates opportunities for a pep band ensemble and coordinates performances at various events.
- Utilizes a diverse repertoire of music literature suitable for varying ages and skill levels.
- Establishes and maintains behavioral standards to ensure a productive environment during rehearsals and performances.
- Adapts the music curriculum to meet the unique needs of individual students and the overall student body.
- Communicates effectively with parents and school staff regarding student progress.
- Plans, rehearses, and directs students in various musical programs.
- Evaluates each student's musical development and contributions to group performances.
- Participates in all required staff meetings and activities as determined by the district and/or building principal.
Minimum/Preferred Qualifications & Skills:
Minimum Qualifications:
- BA in Music or Music Education.
- Current Washington State Teaching Certificate with applicable endorsements.
- Experience in serving a diverse student population in a rural educational setting.
Knowledge of: Subject areas relevant to the position; effective behavior management techniques; instructional strategies; safety protocols for students.
Skills in: Proficient communication skills; designing and implementing lesson plans for students with varying achievement levels.
Ability to: Engage positively with students; maintain fairness and consistency; adapt to changes; organize activities; manage student behavior; ensure a safe learning environment; utilize necessary technology; build effective relationships with students, parents, and staff.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree.
Working Conditions:
The role involves a combination of walking and standing, performed under varying temperature conditions with minimal hazards.
