Credentialed Substance Abuse Counselor

We are seeking a highly skilled Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team at Family Residences and Essential Enterprises, Inc. (FREE). As a CASAC, you will provide direct clinical care services and substance use disorder counseling to individuals with substance use and co-occurring disorders.
Key Responsibilities- Facilitate individual and group substance use recovery meetings targeting mental health populations.
- Assess daily living skills and provide education and training to increase independence and self-confidence.
- Assist individuals in establishing and strengthening engagement with support services.
- Help individuals develop Relapse Prevention/Safety Plans and ensure well-integrated plans for recovery.
- Link individuals to services for ongoing psychiatric and physical health wellness, referrals to permanent housing, and emergency or temporary housing as needed.
- Support individuals in managing medications and provide supervision and monitoring to ensure proper administration.
- Collaborate with individuals, internal and external providers to give access to community-based resources.
- Work with clients to improve life choices and maximize benefits of the program.
- Develop individualized recovery/support plans and monthly updates for each individual.
- Identify and assess clients at risk and provide crisis intervention as needed.
- CASAC credentialing required.
- Experience working with substance use population is strongly preferred.
- Ability to utilize 12-step, self-help recovery services, harm reduction, motivational interviewing, and other models/approaches.
- Demonstrates organizational and communication skills for effective interaction with stakeholders.
- Critical thinking and sound judgment skills are necessary.
This role is performed in-person.
Physical RequirementsEmployee is required to sit, walk, and stand for prolonged periods (at least 8 hours). Employee is required to effectively communicate verbally and in writing. Employee is required to operate standard office equipment.
