The Wisconsin Department of Corrections is actively seeking to fill Senior Electronics Technician Security roles at various correctional institutions across the state.

Position Overview

This role is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and calibration of electronic systems and equipment within the institution. The technician will also plan and implement new electronic security systems, including modifications and expansions of existing setups. The position may require responding to emergency repair requests outside of regular hours.

Compensation Details

This position falls within a specific pay schedule/range, with an annual salary ranging from $47,777 to $88,150, in addition to excellent benefits. Salary will be determined in accordance with the Compensation Plan at the time of hiring. A probationary period of twelve months is mandatory.

Job Requirements

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e., a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship) at the time of application.

The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screenings. Any candidate offered a position requiring such a screening must successfully pass it as a condition of employment.

The Department of Corrections will perform criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hiring, all new employees are subject to fingerprinting.

Qualifications

Candidates should possess knowledge of the principles, practices, methods, materials, and techniques related to advanced electronic security hardware installation and repair; familiarity with computer and security-related electronic systems; and proficiency in using test equipment such as meters and oscilloscopes. Additionally, the ability to install, troubleshoot, and repair systems that include tubes, semiconductors, and integrated circuits, as well as a variety of specialized electronic equipment and computers, is essential. Candidates must also be able to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and schematics of complete systems and work effectively with contractors, consultants, engineers, and institutional staff.
