Environmental Noise Specialist

We're seeking a skilled Environmental Noise Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our team, you'll be responsible for conducting noise acoustical and/or vibration studies on various projects, assisting in data collection and report preparation, and working independently on small projects or assisting senior scientists on larger projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct noise acoustical and/or vibration studies on various projects
  • Assist in the preparation of data collection from the field and subconsultants, and develop noise reports
  • Complete projects with clear, specified objectives and limited variables
  • Work independently on small projects or assist more-senior scientists on larger projects
  • Interact with staff and work with local regulators and subconsultants
  • Work on architectural acoustics, building or environmental noise, and vibration-related analyses
  • Use state-of-the-art instruments to measure noise and vibration, and process and analyze that data
  • Perform noise monitoring at construction sites
  • Driving is required; must have a driving record acceptable under the HDR Motor Vehicle Policy


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two years of noise monitoring experience
  • Transportation project experience
  • Candidates who reside locally in the Syracuse area


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Acoustics, Math, Physics, or a closely related field
  • Understanding of GIS and GPS
  • Self-starter with excellent writing and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency with state-of-the-art software used to process and analyze measurement data
  • Familiarity with relevant ISO and related acoustical standards
  • Attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture
