Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Monitor/Noise Specialist to join our team at HDR. As an Environmental Monitor/Noise Specialist, you will be responsible for conducting noise acoustical and/or vibration studies on various projects, assisting in the preparation of data collection from the field and subconsultants, and developing noise reports.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct noise acoustical and/or vibration studies on various projects
  • Assist in the preparation of data collection from the field and subconsultants, and develop noise reports
  • Complete projects with clear, specified objectives and limited variables
  • Work independently on small projects or assist more-senior scientists on larger projects
  • Interact with staff and work with local regulators and subs
  • Work on architectural acoustics, building or environmental noise, and vibration-related analyses
  • Use state-of-the-art instruments to measure noise and vibration, and to process and analyze that data is required
  • Perform noise monitoring at construction sites
  • Driving is required. Must have a driving record acceptable under the HDR Motor Vehicle Policy.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two years of Noise monitoring experience would be preferred.
  • Transportation project experience would be a plus.
  • Candidates who reside locally in the Syracuse area are preferred.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Acoustics, Math, Physics or closely related field
  • Understanding of GIS and GPS
  • Self-starter with excellent writing and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency with state-of-the-art software used to process and analyze measurement data
  • Must also be familiar with relevant ISO and related acoustical standards
