We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Controls Engineer to join our team at Johnson Controls International. As a key member of our water-cooled chiller product engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing electrical control systems for our industrial chiller products.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain electronic hardware and software for our chiller products.
- Design analog and digital interface circuits, develop power supply circuits, and select power supplies.
- Perform worst-case circuit analysis and incorporate reliability principles to ensure reliable operation over environmental specifications.
- Assist the chiller team in developing, testing, and supporting chiller system controls, including selecting system components and accurately interfacing them to electronic control panel I/O.
- Acquire agency approvals such as UL, CE, and FCC on Printed Circuit boards and Electronic Panels.
- Conduct and apply costing analysis to feasibility studies on proposed designs or modifications to existing designs.
- Develop schedules that accurately reflect project breakthroughs and implement them.
- Integrate new and modify existing processes to cover all phases of the electronic development process.
- Provide mentorship to drafters and support Service and Manufacturing on Commercial Systems products.
- Prepare and participate in design reviews.
- Learns and applies regulatory codes such as UL, NEC, CSA, and CE codes.
- Capture and analyze test data to identify electrical performance problems and propose solutions for corrections.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of validated experience in electrical controls engineering.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, schedule-driven, team-oriented environment.
- Ability to program and debug PLC programs.
- Provides secondary-level product support to the field after product technical support resources are exhausted for PLC applications.
- Experience with RSLogix and associated hardware Allen Bradley.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required (up to 10% of time).
- Understanding of chiller controls.
- Familiarity with HVAC Systems and motor-driven mechanical engineering design and test.
- Chiller PLC experience.
