Job Summary

This Electrical Engineer II position is responsible for designing, testing, and maintaining power electronics products and systems for Johnson Controls' chiller applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement technical solutions for power electronics products and systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and test power electronics products and systems.
  • Analyze and interpret design specifications to ensure compliance with Johnson Controls' policies and procedures.
  • Prepare and coordinate the release of documentation to support component design and manufacturing.
  • Participate in preliminary design and systems architecture, and conduct analysis of the cost impacts of proposed modifications, upgrades, and new implementations of application software.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and systems analysis for new applications or major modifications of existing systems.
  • Work with other engineers, designers, and technicians on specific work assignments.
  • Forecast and schedule work activities, and defines processes for repetitive tasks.
  • Act as the technical lead for troubleshooting field and factory issues on the range of power electronics products and systems on Johnson Controls' chillers.
  • Travel to visit customers, Johnson Controls' factories, vendors, and/or professional conferences as business needs.

Requirements

  • Master degree in Electrical Engineering with specialization in Power Electronics.
  • 3-6 years of experience in the field of power electronics or electrical engineering.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. degree with focus in Power Electronics.
  • Strong experience in power electronics controls.
  • Strong experience in IGBT based inverters.
  • Strong experience in advanced tools such as Matlab/Simulink, OPAL-RT, Saber.
