This role will work closely with and report to the Category Manager for Local Foods to update, improve, and expand the Local program at The Fresh Market Inc.
We'll be learning more about consumer preferences and food trends across the country and applying that to The Fresh Market's vision – to be the premier, fresh-focused specialty food retailer that inspires our guests to make every day eating extraordinary.
Key Responsibilities- Work with TFM stores, vendors, and internal TFM departments to facilitate the setup of new Local products.
- Collect and maintain Local vendor product information, quality assurance and legal documentation, and certificates of insurance.
- Maintain data integrity for UPC changes, cost/retail prices, promotions, and active/discontinued status of Local items.
- Provide data to the Merchandising and Marketing teams regarding add/deletes of Local items.
- Assist with recalls.
- Follow up on guest experience inquiries about Local products.
- Manage the Local sample inventory and product cutting schedules.
- Sample collection for online shopping photography.
- Shopping comparative retailers and price checking items.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, primarily Outlook and Excel. 90% of job is done utilizing Excel.
- Retail merchandising, Local food, and/or food manufacturing experience a plus.
- Passion for Local food and working with small-scale suppliers, providing a premier account-management experience for producers that is personal, professional, and supportive.
- Intrigue for food in general, a desire to learn more about where food comes from, who made it, what it pairs well with, how to prepare it for optimal flavor and texture.
- Strong work ethic and intense attention to detail.
- Capability for working in a fast-paced, ever-changing work environment with a sense of urgency and persistence.
- Excellent time-management and organizational skills.
- Team player attitude, ability to work both independently and in strong collaboration with peers and to build and maintain professional working relationships.
- Good critical thinking ability, dedication and excitement around solving a problem and project completion.
- Superb written and verbal communication skills, comfortable speaking with others on the phone and via email.
