Job Summary

The University of California, Irvine is seeking a skilled Biomedical Equipment Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our clinical engineering department, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and effective operation of medical equipment across our healthcare system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on medical equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety
  • Conduct thorough inspections and troubleshooting to identify and resolve equipment issues
  • Collaborate with clinical staff to provide equipment in-service training and support
  • Document all work performed to meet regulatory and accreditation requirements
  • Work closely with senior biomedical technicians to provide technical expertise and support
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in electronics technology or biomedical equipment technology, or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of experience in biomedical equipment maintenance in a hospital setting
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks
  • Current State of California Driver's License
Preferred Qualifications
  • Understanding of The Joint Commission (TJC) requirements
  • Knowledge of NFPA 99, CAP, Title 22, and other regulatory agencies for Clinical Engineering
  • 2+ years of hospital experience
