Position Overview - Actuarial Analyst

This role presents an exciting opportunity to leverage analytical, problem-solving, communication, and technological skills to develop solutions for complex client challenges. Actuarial Analysts operate both independently and collaboratively to provide consulting services to a diverse array of defined benefit clients. Continuous learning and professional development are encouraged, with support for pursuing actuarial accreditation through a competitive exam program.

Core Responsibilities

The Actuarial Analyst will be tasked with executing actuarial valuations for multiemployer pension plans, public pension plans, and various other projects. Responsibilities encompass, but are not limited to, valuation activities and special projects that address unique and emerging retirement plan challenges faced by client organizations.

Key Duties Include:

  • Conducting research and information gathering;
  • Reviewing and analyzing work products, including plan data and financial statements;
  • Contributing to the development of effective solutions;
  • Creating and updating valuation programs and spreadsheet applications;
  • Assisting in report preparation and compliance filings;
  • Collaborating with actuarial and consulting teams to ensure effective presentation of deliverables to clients.

Candidate Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, or a related field;
  • Completion of at least two actuarial exams with a commitment to achieving actuarial accreditation;
  • 1-3 years of experience in retirement plan actuarial work within a consulting context preferred;
  • Strong computer programming and software skills, particularly in Excel;
  • Attention to detail, organizational abilities, and analytical skills;
  • Effective communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with a diverse group.
