Position Summary

The Developmental Disabilities Institute (DDI) has been a cornerstone in Long Island for over 50 years, delivering exceptional care and services to more than 1,500 children and adults with special needs. Become part of a workforce committed to pioneering programs and support services for the community.

Compensation: $21.36 per hour

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and coordinate activities, develop employment opportunities, create work schedules, and formulate service plans for assigned clients.
  • Provide employment training services in both individual and group environments.
  • Conduct precise and timely data collection, including goal tracking, protocols, behavioral data, progress notes, and more.
  • Assist in establishing vocational training locations, job development, and wage evaluations.
  • Collaborate with employers and families to tailor vocational programs for individuals.
  • Develop task analyses and training programs that facilitate the transition to more advanced vocational services.
  • Engage in required training sessions, workshops, and certification programs.
  • Participate in scheduled team and staff meetings.
  • Obtain necessary certifications for medication administration under supervision if required.
  • Follow emergency procedures and ensure proper documentation.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of OPWDD and DDI policies while maintaining accurate records.
  • Provide oversight and advocacy for individuals in the program.
  • Ensure cleanliness and upkeep of vehicles utilized within the program.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • At least one year of experience working with individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities
  • Understanding of OPWDD regulations and guidelines
  • Valid driver's license, good driving record, and approval to drive for DDI
