Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Upholstery Technician Senior to join our team at Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for designing, fabricating, and installing high-quality upholstery and trim items in aircraft interiors.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Design and Fabrication: Interpret material specifications and design/engineering drawings to ensure finished products meet design and engineering requirements.
  2. Installation and Quality Control: Sew, fabricate, and install covers for all styles of panels in the aircraft interior while meeting safety, quality, and productivity standards and goals.
  3. Material Tracking and Management: Use the material tracking system, Corridor, to create parts demand, track squawks, and sign-off work.
  4. Advanced Custom Design: Work with design/drawings to cut and install advanced custom design carpets with unique patterns.
Additional Responsibilities
  1. Leadership and Mentorship: Accept lead responsibilities when needed, oversee projects, and coordinate with lead to delegate tasks to assigned technicians.
  2. Safety and Compliance: Conduct safety audits and assist team members in doing safety audits, comply with and champion Safety, 5S, and housekeeping policies, and ensure the protection of aircraft interiors.
  3. Process Improvement: Work with lead and higher skilled technicians to develop and implement process improvements to reduce material cost, cycle time, and labor hours using Lean Six-Sigma tools.
Requirements
  1. Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED required, 4 years experience in upholstery, including 2 years aircraft upholstery experience or 6 years commercial upholstery experience.
  2. Skills and Knowledge: Advanced knowledge of upholstery and sewing processes and products, ability to read, write, speak, and understand proficiently the English language, ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering documentation, and computer literacy.
  3. Physical Demands: Ability to climb ladders and stairs, work in small restricted areas, lift up to 40 pounds, and work any shift.
