Job Summary

The Behavioral Health Counselor will be responsible for providing skilled therapeutic care to patients in a pediatric behavioral health setting. This role requires a high level of emotional intelligence, empathy, and communication skills to effectively support patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitoring and maintaining a safe environment for patients
• Assisting patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and eating
• Identifying and reporting changes in behavior that represent unsafe situations
• Providing skilled therapeutic care, incorporating established behavior management protocols as needed to meet treatment goals and objectives
• Assisting in arranging and conducting group programs and activities
• Developing and maintaining supportive relationships with patients and families

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED, Associate's Degree preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification at start date
• De-escalation training (Crisis Prevention Institute, or other equivalent training)
• Practical experience in a behavioral health or educational setting required
• Internal: 1-2 Years of experience as a Behavioral Health Tech at BCH
• External: 1-2 Years of experience as a Behavioral Health, Mental Health Counselor or similar role in a similar setting
