Key Responsibilities:

  • Effectively conducts basic and intermediate radiographic procedures, including general diagnostic and fluoroscopic imaging.
  • Engages with patients to clarify procedures, gather clinical history, ensure understanding, and address any inquiries or concerns.
  • Positions patients appropriately and selects exposure parameters for various radiologic examinations, ensuring radiation protection and safety as per established protocols.
  • Identifies patients and labels images accordingly, verifying requisitions against physician orders to guarantee exam precision, and processes images to maintain quality standards.
  • Collaborates and communicates with Radiologists as necessary.
  • Maintains accurate records in compliance with regulatory standards and inputs patient and study data into the radiology information system, documenting billing codes for procedures performed to ensure precise patient charges.
  • Performs various patient positioning and transportation tasks, which necessitate lifting and pushing/pulling, utilizing proper techniques.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care, understanding the principles of growth and development across the lifespan, and assessing data reflective of each patient's status to meet their specific needs.


Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

  • Radiographer license issued by the state of Wisconsin.
  • Registered Technologist (RT) registration from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) to be obtained within 6 months.


Education Required:

  • Completion of an accredited or approved program in Radiologic Technology beyond high school.


Experience Required:

  • No prior experience is necessary.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Proficient in radiology positioning and techniques.
  • Understanding of basic radiation safety and radiology equipment.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and patient service skills to effectively interact with physicians, patients, and staff.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Intermediate computer proficiency.


Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Must be capable of sitting, standing, walking, lifting, squatting, bending, twisting, and reaching above shoulders frequently throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to stand/walk for the majority of the day.
  • Must be able to:
    • Lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist.
    • Lift up to 20 lbs. overhead.
    • Carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.
  • Must be able to:
    • Push/pull with 30 lbs. of force.
    • Perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with assistance.
  • May encounter mechanical, electrical, chemical, and radiation hazards, as well as blood and body fluids; therefore, personal protective equipment must be utilized as necessary.
  • Must possess clear speech, vision, and hearing capabilities.
  • Operates all necessary equipment to perform the job effectively.
