Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Respiratory Therapist to join our team at LewisGale Medical Center. As a critical care specialist, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and ensuring the best possible outcomes for our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform and document patient assessments, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure.
  • Conduct diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for, and response to, respiratory therapy.
  • Administer respiratory care therapies, including oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy.
  • Assist with placement of artificial airways and initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation.
  • Monitor patients for therapeutic response and notify providers and intervene as appropriate in the event of an unintended response.
  • Assist with transportation of ventilator-dependent patients and respond to emergent patient situations.
Requirements
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • Licensure by the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • Respiratory Therapy degree (AAS or BS).
  • One year of critical care experience.
  • Previous experience with mechanical ventilation, blood gas analysis, and oximetry.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
