LewisGale Medical Center is seeking a skilled Registered Respiratory Therapist PRN to join our team. As a vital part of our patient care team, you will provide high-quality, patient-centered respiratory care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and document patient assessment, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure.
  • Conduct diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for, and response to, respiratory therapy.
  • Administer respiratory care therapies, including oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy.
  • Assist with placement of artificial airways and initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation.
  • Monitor patient for therapeutic response and notify provider and intervene as appropriate in the event of an unintended response.
  • Assist with transportation of ventilator-dependent patients and respond to emergent patient situations.

Requirements

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist RRT from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC), licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • Respiratory therapy Degree- AAS or BS.
  • One year of critical care experience.
  • Previous experience with mechanical ventilation, blood gas analysis, and oximetry.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support ACLS and Basic Cardiac Life Support, or BCLS.
