About the Role

LewisGale Medical Center is seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team. As a vital part of our patient care team, you will provide high-quality, patient-centered respiratory care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and document patient assessment, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure.
  • Conduct diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for, and response to, respiratory therapy.
  • Administer respiratory care therapies, including oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy.
  • Assist with placement of artificial airways and initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation.
  • Monitor patient for therapeutic response and notify provider and intervene as appropriate in the event of an unintended response.
  • Assist with transportation of ventilator-dependent patients and respond to emergent patient situations.

Requirements

  • State Registered Respiratory Therapist
  • Transition from a CRT to a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) in the state(s) of practice, in accordance with law and regulation.
  • Bachelors Degree, or Associate Degree from an accredited school for Respiratory Therapy.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support, or BCLS Instructor must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • 1+ years of experience in respiratory care.
  • Credentialed active member of the NBRC.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) with in 6 months of employment start date.
