Job Title: Stationary Engineer
Job Summary:
The Department of State Hospitals is seeking a highly skilled Stationary Engineer to join our team. As a Stationary Engineer, you will be responsible for operating, maintaining, and repairing complex mechanical systems, including boilers, heaters, pumps, valves, and refrigerant compressors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate, maintain, and repair boilers, heaters, pumps, valves, and refrigerant compressors
- Operate, repair, and maintain air compressors, distribution lines, and control devices
- Operate, maintain, and repair natural and manufactured gas distribution lines and manufacturing systems
- Operate, repair, and maintain water filters, softeners, piping, and pumps used in conjunction with water distribution
- Operate, repair, and maintain all types of motors and engines used to power pumps, compressors, and fans
- Repair and maintain single-phase and multi-phase electrical circuits up to 550 volts
- Repair and maintain electrical transformers, motors, controls, machinery fixtures, appliances, and elevators
- Repair and maintain electronic systems, including clocks, closed-circuit television, automatic alarm systems, security systems, energy management systems, equal potential grounding, and automatic power transfers
- Calibrate control systems for air conditioning, refrigeration, heating, and ventilation systems
- Inspect and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems and equipment to identify repairs needed
- Perform minor building maintenance and repair
- Plan layouts and estimate costs of electrical, mechanical, and electronic systems
- Requisition parts, supplies, and equipment
- Calculate systems requirements to provide estimates for modification or replacement of systems
- Lead and train subordinate and less senior personnel
Requirements:
- Permanent civil service status, reachable on an employment list, transfer eligibility, or reinstatement eligibility
- Ability to work any shift and schedule in a variety of settings throughout the hospital
- Ability to work overtime and float to other work locations as determined by the operational needs of the hospital
Working Conditions:
The employee is required to work in a variety of settings throughout the hospital and may be required to work overtime and float to other work locations as determined by the operational needs of the hospital.
Special Requirements:
- Pass a drug screening prior to being hired
- Clear a background investigation prior to being hired
- Obtain medical clearance prior to being hired
