Job Summary:

As a Stationary Engineer, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining utility equipment and systems, including boilers, cooling towers, air compressors, distillation units, pumps, valves, and related systems. You will work independently to troubleshoot equipment and make repairs, while also maintaining accurate records of test requests and results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain utility equipment and systems, ensuring safe and efficient operation.
  • Perform routine rounds of equipment areas, reading meters and gauges, and adjusting controls as needed.
  • Conduct tests and take corrective action as necessary.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and make repairs, or arrange for necessary repairs.
  • Keep accurate records of test requests and results, as well as preventative and corrective maintenance work performed.
  • Hold a valid 500 HP Steam Engineer license issued by the Los Angeles City Department of Building and Safety, or be willing to obtain one.
  • Support and comply with the ISO14001 Environmental Management System.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in utility plant operations.
  • Knowledge of water pretreatment and pure water production.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret equipment performance data.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with all aspects of maintenance.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment, but also take independent ownership of work.
  • Ability to lift/push up to 70 lbs.
  • Ability to climb vertical heights.
  • Light plumbing skills are a plus.
