About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned professional to lead our Debt Capital Markets team as Capital Markets Managing Director. As a key member of our management team, you will be responsible for developing and executing the strategic vision for our debt capital markets and structuring finance unit, aligning initiatives with our broader development goals.

Main Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute the strategic vision for the Debt Capital Markets and Structuring Finance unit, aligning initiatives with the bank's broader development goals.
  • Lead the design and structuring of innovative debt financing products that address the needs of borrowers and investors while maximizing developmental impact.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of global and regional debt markets to identify trends, opportunities, and challenges that inform product offerings and strategies.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including investors, issuers, and government entities, to enhance collaboration and capital mobilization.
  • Oversee the structuring of debt transactions to optimize financial terms, manage risk, and ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks.
  • Implement comprehensive risk assessment and management processes to identify, evaluate, and mitigate risks associated with debt capital market activities.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators to evaluate the effectiveness and impact of debt financing products and initiatives.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and professional growth within the unit.
  • Advocate for policies and regulatory frameworks that support the development of local and international debt capital markets, enhancing access to financing for priority sectors.
  • Facilitate knowledge exchange and best practices within the organization and with external stakeholders to enhance understanding and effectiveness of debt capital market strategies.
Requirements
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience as a banker with a proven business track record. Expert in debt capital markets. Strong structuring finance skills and relationships with market stakeholders.
  • Master's degree (or equivalent advanced degree) in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, Law, Engineering, or another relevant field.
  • Proficiency in English and one of the other Bank's official languages (Spanish, French, or Portuguese) is required.
  • There are no citizenship requirements.
  • Consanguinity: No family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.

We offer an international staff contract, initially 36 months, renewable upon mutual agreement.
