Senior Laboratory Scientist Position

Job Summary:
Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is seeking a Senior Laboratory Scientist to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or a related field and ASCP or AMT certification. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing laboratory testing and interpreting test results, as well as developing and maintaining daily technical operations.
Responsibilities:
- Perform laboratory testing and interpret test results using scientific knowledge and principles of test procedures and disease processes.
- Develop and maintain daily technical operations, including staff training and education, implementation of instrumentation, and accreditation readiness.
- Supervise and train laboratory staff and students in a 24/7 environment.
- Ensure accurate orders for proficiency surveys and submit survey data.
- Maintain current policies and procedures in the department and ensure completion of electronic documents according to established assignments and timelines.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or a related field.
- ASCP or AMT certification.
- Three years of laboratory experience required.
