Senior Laboratory Scientist

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our team at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing laboratory testing and interpreting test results using scientific knowledge and principles of test procedures and disease processes.
Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and manage daily technical operations, including staff training and education, implementation of instrumentation, and accreditation readiness.
- Supervise, train, and assess the competency of laboratory staff and students in a 24/7 environment.
- Ensure accurate orders for proficiency surveys and submit survey data.
- Collect and analyze PI data, documenting progress and maintaining current policies and procedures in the department.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or a related field from an accredited institution.
- ASCP or AMT certification required.
- Three years of laboratory experience, with transfusion experience preferred.
