Job Title: Instructor/Course Coordinator

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for the success of the Emergency Medical Services programs, including Emergency Medical Technician and Advanced Emergency Medical Technician. The instructor must create a positive and engaging learning environment, ensuring students receive relevant and worthwhile experiences daily.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, and implement an effective instructional training program with a focus on quality hands-on labs.
  • Ensure training is conducted in a professional learning environment that guides, encourages, and enables students to develop into industry professionals.
  • Develop and update classroom syllabi, curriculum, lab experiences, and lesson plans to meet the needs of local industry and students.
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives and well-defined competencies for the program and all learning activities.
  • Manage student behavior, ensure objectives are reflected on each syllabi, and maintain student data in Northstar.
  • Meet or exceed performance metrics for the program established by the VP of Instruction.
  • Adhere to FERPA requirements and guidelines, maintaining integrity and confidentiality in all circumstances.
  • Work with the department director, admissions, and recruiters to fill cohorts with students capable of graduating and finding employment in the field.
  • Develop and propose admissions standards to enhance student success.
  • Assist with the selection of students, ensuring safety standards are used and compliance with College, local, City, State, and Federal guidelines.
  • Model a professional environment for students, schedule industry professionals for presentations, and supervise adjunct instructors as needed.
  • Ensure program follows COE accreditation guidelines, including completion of Employee Verification forms and maintaining records of contacts with industry partners.
  • Participate in documenting, collecting, and placing Standard 2 criteria evidence into the COE program folder biannually.
  • Assist with the hiring and scheduling of adjunct faculty, ensuring program spending is within established budgets.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years' experience in industry required, 8+ years' experience preferred.
  • Utah licensed as an EMR, EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic required.
  • Certified EMS Instructor and Course Coordinator, or eligible and willing to obtain certification.
  • Instructional experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Google suite.
  • Strong communications and presentation skills.
  • Ability to communicate with students, staff, and colleagues, read academic texts, and operate personal computer and audio-visual equipment.
