Overview

The Financial Project Coordinator plays a crucial role in facilitating project execution by overseeing and reporting on financial outcomes in line with established policies. Key responsibilities encompass cost management, invoicing, forecasting, and cash flow assessments. This role provides significant support to regional or program Project Managers and Management teams, acting as the financial liaison on a daily basis. As the scale, intricacy, and/or risk of projects escalate, advanced technical and analytical accounting competencies will be required.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Assist Project Managers with the initiation, maintenance, and closure of projects within financial management systems.
  2. Interpret contractual commercial terms and ensure their integration into project configurations and controls.
  3. Review and coordinate the validation of incurred expenses, including labor, costs, and subcontractor fees.
  4. Prepare precise and timely invoices for clients, facilitating the Project Manager's review of billed and unbilled amounts.
  5. Support Project Managers in analyzing project budgets, financial challenges, and discrepancies; participate in financial review meetings.
  6. Review and provide insights for monthly revenue generation and quarterly revenue projections.
  7. Assist Project Managers with accounts receivable collections as necessary.
  8. Provide training on project financial software as required.
  9. Support management with project analysis and data collection as needed.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's or Master's degree in accounting, finance, or equivalent professional experience is required.

6-8+ years of relevant work experience.

Proficiency with advanced project management software (Deltek preferred).

A strong focus on customer satisfaction with a collaborative and positive work approach.

Ability to work independently, take initiative, prioritize tasks, solve complex issues, and see projects through to completion.

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
