Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused Water Safety Instructor to join our team at the City of St. George. As a Water Safety Instructor, you will be responsible for conducting swimming instruction using the American Red Cross Learn to Swim program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the safety of students at all times.
  • Follow and teach according to the Red Cross lesson standards, incorporating creativity and different teaching styles as needed.
  • Start and end classes according to established schedules, requiring instructors to be available 15 minutes prior to scheduled class.
  • Ensure all equipment is out and ready prior to class start.
  • Provide parents with updates, as requested, regarding child's progress.
  • Instruct all lessons with safety first in a manner beneficial to students' progression.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance and skill accomplishment, completed after every class.
  • Complete certificates prior to the final session of each class.
  • Complete Course Records with American Red Cross.
  • Required to be in water while teaching.
  • Attend scheduled meetings with management and staff.
Requirements
  • American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification must be obtained within 60 days of hire and maintained throughout employment.
  • Workplace CPR/AED, First Aid certification must be obtained within 60 days of hire and maintained throughout employment.
  • Knowledge of facilities' rules and regulations, as well as facilities' Emergency Action Plan.
  • Highly motivated, customer service oriented, and excellent public relations skills.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with children and youth.
