Project Initiation Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate cross-departmental project delivery efforts, securing commitment for timely delivery while managing competing priorities.
  • Plan project implementations, conduct implementation dry runs, and lead go-live activities to ensure seamless production implementations.
  • Promptly escalate significant issues and risks to leadership.
  • Ensure Organizational Change Management activities are executed to promote product adoption.
  • Plan and finalize the Transition to Support to ensure the support organization can effectively manage all new or modified systems.

Project Oversight Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to IS PMO processes regarding deliverables, stage gates, and controls, ensuring compliance with management controls.
  • Develop and maintain project financials, managing budgets in SAP, PPM, and Excel; provide timely and accurate financial submissions.
  • Monitor and control all facets of project delivery in line with CPKC IS PMO and best practices in project management.
  • Create and support the development of presentations for senior management, detailing project scope, schedule, budget, and status updates.

Team Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership for project teams: establish clear objectives, engage team members, resolve conflicts, and acknowledge contributions.
  • Conduct regular lessons learned sessions to foster continuous improvement within project teams.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication, organizational, multitasking, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
  • Understand and navigate diverse cultural values and sensitivities.

Required Skills:

  • Extensive experience leading large-scale, multi-stakeholder information systems projects.
  • Proficiency in project management planning tools (preferably MS Project) and associated MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Proven track record of success in a collaborative team-oriented environment.
  • Experience managing Software and Technology Development, and/or Application Integration projects using Agile or Waterfall methodologies.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving capabilities at complex levels.
  • Ability to comprehend business and technical strategies and effectively communicate these to governing bodies.
  • Experience in developing statements of work (SOW), participating in contract negotiations, and managing vendor relationships.

Educational Background:

  • Post-secondary education in Commerce/Business, Engineering, Technology, or Computer Science.
