Essential Job Functions

- Set clear performance goals for the department and empower your team to achieve and exceed targets through collaborative efforts.
- Develop efficient scheduling strategies to manage customer volume effectively.
- Provide comprehensive training and development to associates on job performance standards and actively participate in performance appraisal processes.
- Ensure strict adherence to all local, state, and federal regulations, including food safety guidelines, country of origin labeling requirements, and proper food handling procedures.
- Create a welcoming atmosphere for customers by answering product inquiries, offering samples, and providing personalized recommendations.
- Accurately prepare and portion fresh/frozen meats according to customer requests, utilizing proper cutting equipment and techniques.
- Collaborate with management to provide seasonal critiques on sales and merchandising strategies.
- Keep associates and customers informed about current meat promotions by staying up-to-date on advertising campaigns and implementing promotional plans.
- Assist management in preparing the department budget, monitoring expenses, reviewing profit/loss reports, and taking appropriate actions based on financial data.
- Ensure accurate pricing updates by scheduling daily, weekly, and monthly price changes for shelf tags and promotional signage.
- Oversee inventory processes, maintain awareness of stock levels, identify discrepancies, and train department associates on inventory management and Computer Assisted Ordering systems.
- Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations and accurate temperature log documentation.
- Promote a safe work environment by adhering to safety procedures, identifying potential hazards, reporting customer or employee accidents, practicing preventive maintenance on equipment, and notifying appropriate personnel about necessary repairs.
