About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Advanced Practice Provider Fellow to join our team at Carilion Clinic. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will have the opportunity to develop your clinical skills and expertise in emergency medicine.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in a 12-month intense training program in emergency medicine, including patient care in a Level 1 Trauma Center, simulation lab training, and rotations to community hospitals emergency departments.
  • Develop beginner and advanced skills in intubation, wound care, central line and CT insertion, and become proficient in basic ultrasound diagnostic abilities.
  • Conduct comprehensive health histories, perform physical, psychological, and developmental assessments, and discriminate between normal and abnormal findings.
  • Assess, diagnose, and manage selected acute and chronic illnesses and conditions, and perform or request laboratory/radiology procedures as needed.
  • Utilize automated computer systems, including electronic medical records, and accurately record assessment findings and treatment plans.
  • Coordinate necessary appointments and referrals, and consult with physicians as appropriate.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program or Nurse Practitioner Program.
  • Clinical experience appropriate to specific practice/department preferred.
  • Current Physician Assistants or Nurse Practitioner license (PA) required. DEA licensure required. AHA BLS, ACLS certification required. PALS required within 6 months of Fellowship training.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare providers, and maintain open and supportive communications between all department members and other employees, patients, and their family members.
