About the Role

Gallagher Bassett is seeking a highly skilled Construction Safety Loss Control Consultant to join our team on a per-assignment/quarterly basis. This role will involve conducting safety and loss control risk inspections on multi-year construction projects in various industry sectors across central Tennessee.

This is a W-2 position, and the successful candidate will be required to meet our U.S. Eligibility requirements for work authorization. The position pays $40 to $60 per hour.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Conducting multi-line and/or specialty loss and operational analysis to achieve successful implementation of complex insurance and risk management programs.
  • Contributing to business growth and retention goals by ensuring client risk improvement needs are addressed, demonstrating a high understanding of client business, risk, and risk profile.
  • Performing periodic onsite inspections and audits of customer sites to evaluate the level of compliance with Safety Management, Environmental Health and Safety, and Risk Management plans, programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Reviewing metrics related to safety and health and related claims history.
  • Conducting periodic safety meetings with operations teams at various active construction site project locations.
  • Preparing evaluation reports to gain an understanding of current operations and identify potential health and safety compliance risks, liabilities, workplace practices, and recommendations for correction or improvement.
  • Providing client and/or client team members with quarterly status reports.
  • Attending teleconference client meetings as requested and participating in safety meetings with the client project team.
  • Providing on-call technical support via phone, email, or teleconference to clients, as requested, or risk management/claims administration personnel.
Requirements

The successful candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree or commensurate experience; 5 years related experience in Safety, Risk, or Insurance.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in construction and safety management.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience specifically in safety on infrastructure and/or building construction projects.
  • Ability to obtain appropriate licenses and/or certifications in all states where business is conducted.
  • Safety training experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Moderate travel required, including possible overnight travel. Ability to travel by automobile and aircraft and work outside of normal business hours as required.
  • Ability to perform work on varied customer properties; entails negotiating non-public access areas, climbing, lifting, sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods of time.
Preferred Qualifications

The successful candidate will also possess:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational or Industrial Safety, Fire Protection, Risk Management preferred.
  • Certifications in the following are preferred: Associate in Risk Management (ARM), Associate in Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Health and Safety Technician (CHST).
  • Familiarity with owner-controlled (OCIP) and contractor-controlled (CCIP) insurance programs.
