We are currently seeking a Safety Engineer to join our Raleigh region team. This role will support Messer projects and personnel with safety inspections, project planning, employee training, and other safety and health services.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct pre-construction safety meetings and contractor safety orientations
- Perform weekly site safety inspections and participate in OSHA inspections and follow-up
- Investigate accidents and incidents, and research safety topics
- Develop and implement employee safety training programs
- Organize and lead project safety committees, and track safety trends
- Provide coverage for the Safety Coordinator when they are absent
- Participate in regional safety committees
- Complete paperwork associated with safety inspections, accident/incident follow-up, OSHA inspections, employee training, and safety orientations
- Communicate with fellow safety coordinators about new safety approaches and information compiled at seminars and education programs
- Track safety equipment distributed to job sites
- Degree in a safety-related program or a minimum of 2 years' experience in construction safety, with a plan to earn a degree that supports the growth of the department and position
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, or any new system deemed necessary for job performance
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, and good organizational skills
- Ability to function in a team environment, with accuracy and consistency in work product
- Ability to work non-routine hours as needed, and analyze options and problem-solve creatively
