Job Overview

We are looking for a dedicated and empathetic Healthcare Support Specialist to enhance our medical team. The successful candidate will assist healthcare professionals in delivering exceptional patient care while ensuring the efficient operation of both clinical and administrative tasks within the medical office. Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Care:
    • Welcome patients and prepare them for their consultations.
    • Document vital signs, medical histories, and primary concerns of patients.
    • Support healthcare providers during examinations and medical procedures.
    • Administer vaccinations, conduct EKGs, and assist in minor surgical interventions.
    • Educate patients on medications, treatments, and follow-up care.
  • Clinical Assistance:
    • Set up examination rooms and ensure all necessary tools and supplies are ready.
    • Collect and handle laboratory samples.
    • Conduct basic lab tests and prepare patients for imaging studies.
    • Sanitize medical instruments and maintain a clean clinical environment.
  • Administrative Responsibilities:
    • Coordinate patient appointments and manage patient flow efficiently.
    • Handle phone inquiries, respond to patient questions, and maintain patient records.
    • Ensure adherence to HIPAA regulations and uphold patient confidentiality.

Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) is mandatory; completion of an accredited medical assistant program is preferred.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA) is desirable.
  • Prior experience in a medical office or healthcare environment is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, clinical practices, and basic laboratory techniques.
  • Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and medical billing software.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, work under pressure, and maintain a positive demeanor.
  • CPR/BLS certification is required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Capability to stand or walk for extended durations.
  • Must be able to lift and transport up to 25 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity to operate instruments, tools, and equipment.

Work Environment:

  • Medical office setting with exposure to medical instruments, chemicals, and pathogens.
