We invite you to become a part of our RSM team as a Tax Engagement Support Specialist. In this role, you will leverage your keen attention to detail, effective communication, and technical abilities. The ideal candidate excels in a dynamic setting, possesses a natural curiosity to learn, and is enthusiastic about proactively assisting client teams and strategic initiatives. You will cultivate and apply a comprehensive understanding of the tax return process and develop technical expertise to implement and uphold standardized tax processing practices within the Tax Engagement Support Services (TESS) Center of Excellence (COE), while also providing tax assistance across various domains.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and compile tax returns using firm software tools and Route Sheet instructions to ensure all necessary client deliverables are included in documents saved to the document management system and for distribution to external clients.
  • Manage new client setups, tax organizers, scanning of client workpapers (if applicable), tax return delivery, workflow reporting, and due date tracking, while meeting expectations for timeliness, responsiveness, accuracy, and service quality.
  • Draft tax client documents, including engagement letters, statements of work, and other requested deliverables.
  • Utilize your in-depth understanding of the tax return process to oversee the e-filing process, including monitoring and submitting external client tax returns to the taxing authorities, ensuring accurate returns are filed and all deadlines are met.
  • Track acceptance, transmission errors, and rejections, resolving issues as necessary.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Educational Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED.
Technical Skills:
  • Strong technical aptitude, with the ability to quickly master various tax software and company tools.
  • This role will require specialized training for both tools and processes.
  • Problem-solving abilities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic to intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Special Requirements:
  • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
  • Problem-solving skills that enable independent decision-making.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the technology tools required for assigned responsibilities.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

Experience:
  • 0 to 3 years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience in the accounting industry or tax-related roles, along with knowledge of tax deadlines, is advantageous.
