Job Title: Caregiver Support Specialist

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Caregiver Support Specialist to join our team at Caregiver Inc. As a Caregiver Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) to lead their unique lives with dignity, independence, and inclusion.

Job Summary:

The Caregiver Support Specialist will provide direct support to individuals with IDD, assisting them with daily living activities, training, and community access. This role requires a high level of empathy, patience, and understanding, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate daily living activities, including personal hygiene, dining skills, housekeeping skills, social skills, and community access.
  • Provide direct support to individuals with IDD, assisting them with training activities as specified in their Individual Support Plans (ISPs).
  • Aid in mobility as needed for individuals using wheelchairs and other assistive devices.
  • Assist with meal service, teaching dining skills and promoting social skills and personal dignity during meals.
  • Administer medications and treatments according to company policy.
  • Act as a Primary Person (P2) for one or more individuals, ensuring their wellbeing at all times.
  • Attend and successfully complete in-service training sessions as scheduled.
  • Serve as a role model and mentor to fellow Direct Support Professionals.
  • Complete data collection, observation notes, and daily reports as directed by agency policy and procedure.
  • Assist individuals with transportation as needed.
  • Participate as a member of the Individual Support Team, providing input toward the individual's ISP.
  • Monitor individuals' activities to ensure safety and health care practices are observed, and Universal Precaution Practices are followed.
Requirements:
  • A high school education or its equivalent is preferred.
  • Some previous experience in supporting/assisting individuals with disabilities is preferred.
  • Must be eighteen (18) years of age.
  • Valid driver's license and a good driving record is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Satisfactory completion of criminal background checks as required by federal and/or state laws and any other post-offer, pre-employment screenings as mandated by a governing agency or the company.
