Electrical Engineer Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and driven Electrical Engineer to join our team focused on Delivering Solutions and Improving Lives. This position offers a great opportunity for a junior-to-mid-level Electrical Engineer to work with an experienced team of engineers, CAD designers, and technicians.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop electrical equipment specifications for motor control centers (MCC's), switchgear, and other electrical equipment.
  • Prepare and/or direct CAD department to produce thorough engineering documentation to record these designs.
  • Contribute to the material procurement process by preparing specifications and reviewing vendors' quotations for technical accuracy.
  • Analyze returning bids for completeness and pricing. Select and approve contractors.
  • Review of specifications, drawings, and other vendor documentation within electrical discipline to verify compliance with project requirements.
  • Perform sizing and selection of electrical equipment.
  • Direct and participate in activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications and customer requirements.
Requirements:
  • Experience in low and medium voltage power distribution systems, including power system design, equipment sizing, protective device selection, and power systems studies.
  • Familiarity with single line diagrams, power and control schematics, raceway and wiring design for conduits and cable trays, grounding design and details for electrical installation.
  • Understanding of electrical specifications for generators, motors, transformers, switchgear, motor control centers (MCC's), variable frequency drives (VFDs), soft starters, and uninterruptable power supply (UPS) systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Knowledge of power modeling software (ETAP preferred) to conduct power system analyses (motor starting transient, load flow, short circuit, protective device coordination, and arc flash).
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD desirable.
  • Familiarity with NFPA 70 (NEC) and NFPA 70E (Electrical Safety).
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree (BSEE) from a four-year college or university.
  • Minimum 4 years' experience (Senior level applicants are also being considered).
  • Field Construction experience desirable, but not required.
