Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Architectural Lab Planner to join our team at HOK. As a key member of our Science and Technology Group, you will be responsible for planning and designing laboratory facilities that meet the needs of our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop comprehensive laboratory planning concepts and solutions for various types of facilities, including vivariums, bio-containment facilities, research laboratories, and pharmaceutical facilities.
  • Collaborate with clients, designers, and project teams to understand project requirements and develop planning concepts that meet their needs.
  • Assist in the design development, modification, and review of laboratory planning concepts and solutions.
  • Develop project scope, plans, and services during the contract process, and translate planning concepts into comprehensible terms for clients and project team members.
  • Establish overall project budgets and milestone schedules in coordination with project managers, architects, and project engineers.
  • Communicate planning concepts to project teams, both verbally and through graphic and written reports.
  • Develop architectural drawings and specifications to communicate planning concepts for project documentation and construction.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in architecture or equivalent in education or experience required.
  • 5 years' experience focused on programming and planning of all phases of a variety of laboratory types, such as vivariums, bio-containment facilities, research laboratories, and pharmaceutical facilities.
  • Knowledge of technical and regulatory requirements for laboratory design, laboratory programming delivery, and how design impacts those systems.
  • Knowledge of laboratory planning, design, construction documents, construction administration, and project construction cost control for lab facilities.
  • Knowledge of sustainability, integrated design, and LEED guidelines.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD/Architectural Desktop, MS Office, and other relevant software.
