Principal Software Engineer – Healthcare IoT Security Startup
Location: Sunnyvale, CA (in-office presence required at least once a week)
This innovative firm specializes in the intersection of IoT, cybersecurity, and healthcare technology.
With a workforce of approximately 80 employees, having tripled in size over the past year, and a dedicated engineering team of 25, the company is experiencing rapid growth.
Having secured $20 million in funding, the organization is witnessing a swift increase in revenue and has established a customer base that spans across the United States and internationally.
The compensation package includes a salary of up to $200,000, a 10% annual bonus, and potential equity opportunities that could be substantial.
Key Responsibilities:
Engage primarily with Java and Spring Boot, focusing predominantly on backend engineering, with flexibility to adjust the balance between backend and frontend work based on individual preferences.
Design, develop, and test robust Java backend services.
Utilize design patterns to create highly scalable microservices.
Lead innovation efforts, conceptualize new features, and define product specifications.
Mentor and guide software engineers to ensure excellence in design, development, and delivery of exceptional customer experiences.
Required Qualifications:
A minimum of 10 years of professional experience, with at least 5 years focused on backend service development using Spring Boot.
Proven experience in developing scalable microservices within Docker environments.
Expertise in creating Java backend services for the Ubuntu Linux platform.
Strong understanding of database query performance optimization techniques.
Experience in customer interactions to facilitate product implementation and troubleshoot issues.
Familiarity with Agile methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban.
A history of continuous development of technical and professional skills.
Ability to produce both high-level and detailed design documentation.
Integration development experience with Network Access Control (NAC) software such as Fortinet, Cisco ISE, SecureX, Extreme Networks, Palo Alto, Checkpoint, ForeScout, Aruba, or Clearpass.
Comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Adaptability to shifting priorities and industry trends.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in the healthcare domain.
Knowledge of IoT technologies.
Familiarity with networking protocols.
Experience with the Spring Cloud framework.
Knowledge of Postgres, Solr DB, and Google Cloud.
Understanding of Network Access Control principles.
Experience with modern software engineering practices, including Continuous Integration and Test Driven Development, along with relevant tools such as Asana.
