Conemaugh Nason Medical Center is in search of a dedicated Full-Time Registered Nurse to join our Recovery Room team within the Same Day Surgery Unit. The RN will be responsible for the planning and evaluation of services in the Outpatient Surgery Unit/Post Anesthesia Care Unit (OPSU/PACU) and must demonstrate the necessary knowledge and skills to provide care for patients undergoing pre and post-operative procedures. The care provided will be tailored to meet the needs of various age groups, including pediatrics, adolescents, and geriatric patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, coordinate, and evaluate services in the OPSU/PACU, aligning with our mission and objectives.
  • Ensure high-quality patient care with consistent adherence to established protocols.
  • Implement effective cost containment strategies on a daily basis.
  • Manage patient care in the OPSU and/or PACU with a focus on safety and quality.
  • Support staff in developing, implementing, and updating nursing care plans for ambulatory surgical patients.
  • Provide psycho-social support to patients, families, and staff.
  • Collaborate with CRNAs and Anesthesiologists to address operational concerns.
  • Maintain and order necessary supplies for the OPSU/PACU.
  • Participate in Performance Improvement projects within the OPSU and PACU.
  • Review incident reports with management and implement necessary changes.
  • Conduct rapid assessments of patient needs during the peri-anesthesia period for all age groups.
  • Document patient data, nursing interventions, and responses accurately and promptly.
  • Educate patients and their families, as well as other healthcare team members.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited RN program is required.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred.
  • Current nursing license in Pennsylvania or a multistate license is required.
  • Experience in Medical/Surgical nursing is preferred, along with critical care experience in PACU.
  • BLS certification is mandatory; ACLS and PALS certifications are required or must be obtained within six months of hire.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding and high-stress environment.
  • Basic computer skills and strong communication abilities are essential.
