Job Overview

Position Title: Broadcast Systems Technician

Department: Engineering

Reports To: Director of Engineering

Employment Status: Full Time - Exempt

Position Summary: This role entails the setup, troubleshooting, and upkeep of electronic apparatus pertinent to television and radio transmission, as well as certain non-broadcast devices for Family Broadcasting Corporation's operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up, repair, operate, and maintain technical apparatus for the functioning of television and radio stations.
  • Diagnose and execute necessary repairs on equipment.
  • Oversee the maintenance of transmitters.
  • Document and manage equipment repairs and inventory.
  • Maintain logs for transmitters.
  • Keep records of wiring and schematics.
  • Educate and assist operators in utilizing equipment.
  • Perform additional related tasks as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Completion of 2 years of college, military training, or technical school.
  • 2 years of practical experience in Broadcast Station Operations.
  • 2 years of experience in Broadcast maintenance or military electronics repair.
  • Understanding of basic networking principles.
  • Familiarity with Zixi as a streaming platform.
  • Experience with Comark TV transmitters.
  • Proficiency in PC and IT systems.
  • Knowledge of broadcast routers.
  • Experience with Video Multiviewers.
  • Ability to use spectrum analyzers.
  • Familiarity with Gates Air FM transmitters.
  • Experience with Wide Orbit radio automation.
  • Ability to utilize CAD programs and databases for documenting installations.
  • Electronics training is essential (military electronics training, electronics trade school, or college electronics degree).
  • Desirable knowledge of IP Broadcasting.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Commitment to staying updated with emerging technologies.
  • Excellent listening and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Well-organized and self-motivated, capable of working independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Exceptional time management, customer service, and communication skills.
  • Ability to adhere to deadlines, manage multiple tasks, and follow instructions.
