The Automotive Service Technician will engage with clients to discuss their vehicle's performance and history, conduct thorough inspections of mechanical and electronic systems, diagnose problems, and present potential solutions.
You will also be responsible for maintaining workshop equipment and providing accurate estimates and timelines for repairs.
To excel in this role, you should prioritize delivering exceptional service to clients as you help them identify, rectify, and prevent issues that could impact the functionality or lifespan of their vehicles.
Automotive Service Technician Responsibilities:
Collaborating with the management team and fellow technicians to diagnose and repair both mechanical and electrical systems of vehicles.
Listening attentively to clients to gather insights about vehicle history, potential issues, and desired services.
Conducting test drives, inspections, and various diagnostic assessments on vehicles to pinpoint problems and determine necessary repairs or replacements.
Performing routine maintenance tasks on vehicles, including oil changes, fluid replacements, and brake services.Repairing body damage and ensuring the vehicle's exterior is cleaned and painted as needed.
Providing clients with timelines and estimates for repairs while discussing available options.
Inspecting internal systems and controls to confirm that vehicles operate correctly and comply with state regulations.
Maintaining detailed records related to clients, their vehicles, parts used, and service history.
Utilizing workshop equipment as directed, performing regular maintenance and repairs as required.
Participating in training opportunities to enhance job knowledge and technical skills.
Automotive Service Technician Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Demonstrated ability to diagnose and repair vehicles while adhering to safety protocols and guidelines.
Proficiency with hand tools and other automotive equipment.
Strong active listening, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Self-motivated, independent, and reliable with a robust work ethic.
