JOB TITLE: Radiologic Technologist PRN

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The Radiologic Technologist is responsible for conducting fluoroscopic examinations for patients across all age demographics, adhering to established professional radiology standards. This role encompasses a variety of responsibilities including patient imaging care, managing the file room, clerical tasks, assisting physicians, and performing other necessary duties to ensure comprehensive patient outcomes in the outpatient surgical setting.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to the Physician/Chief of the Medical Facility.

EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE:

  • Under supervision, prepares and instructs patients for radiologic assessments;
  • Determines optimal anatomical positioning and applies appropriate shielding;
  • Explains procedures to patients, ensuring removal of non-permissible items such as jewelry;
  • Positions patients accurately for imaging;
  • Places x-ray film under the targeted body area and executes the exposure, followed by film development;
  • Operates both stationary and portable radiologic equipment to capture images for diagnostic purposes;
  • Produces, develops, and duplicates x-ray films for medical evaluation;
  • Prepares chemical solutions for film processing;
  • Assists in fluoroscopic procedures and captures clinical images of unique cases under supervision;
  • Maintains equipment and workspaces;
  • Monitors patient conditions throughout the imaging process;
  • Utilizes radiation protection devices to minimize exposure;
  • Measures body sections for accurate radiographic settings;
  • Maintains accurate records and files;
  • Prepares reports as necessary and performs related tasks.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Comprehensive understanding of contemporary radiologic equipment and techniques; knowledge of human anatomy; familiarity with standardized radiologic procedures; awareness of radiologic safety protocols; proficiency in operating and maintaining radiologic devices; and inventory management skills.

Effective communication skills necessary for job performance; ability to administer emergency aid; proficiency in preparing and processing x-ray films; capability to maintain organized records and generate reports; ability to follow instructions; skill in analyzing situations and taking appropriate actions; and capacity to foster collaborative working relationships.

EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma or equivalent;
  • Current certification as a Radiologic Technologist in diagnostic radiology from the relevant state health department;
  • Two years of experience in radiologic techniques under a certified medical radiologist, or completion of a two-year accredited radiologic technology program.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Proficient in email systems such as Microsoft Outlook for communication;
  • Ability to use Word and Excel for document creation and data management;
  • Familiarity with WebMD and Intergy systems for data entry and review preferred.

  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively;
  • Capability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities;
  • Ability to maintain composure under pressure;
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed;
  • Skill in multitasking while ensuring attention to detail.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and assist patients with mobility;
  • Normal office environment with typical sitting and standing requirements;
  • Capacity to focus for prolonged periods;
  • Effective verbal communication skills;
  • Proficiency in using a computer keyboard and monitor.

ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS:

Typical office environment with significant telephone communication. Most positions are in a climate-controlled setting during standard business hours, with occasional evening or weekend responsibilities.
