The estimated salary for this position ranges from $39,000 to $42,000 annually, plus substantial benefits, making it a competitive offer in the region. Current rates are under negotiation.

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled individual to operate gasoline, diesel, or electric powered vehicles, including buses, for up to 80 passengers. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe operation of the vehicle at all times, ensuring timely delivery of students to their authorized stops. In addition to driving duties, the School Bus Driver and Maintenance Professional will perform various labor and maintenance tasks as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Obeys all traffic laws and observes mandatory safety regulations for school vehicles.
  • Transports only authorized students and staff, maintaining discipline when necessary.
  • Discharges students only at designated stops, reporting any incidents to the proper authority.
  • Notifies supervisors of mechanical failures or lateness, keeping assigned vehicles clean and performing daily inspections.
  • Responsible leadership during out-of-district school trips and enforces regulations on assigned vehicles.
  • Reports accidents, completes required reports, and checks/adds fluids, fuel, and air as needed.
  • Performs other related assignments, such as assisting with Grounds, Carpentry, Painting, Moving, Repairing, and other trades under the Facilities Director's supervision.

Required Qualifications:

  • Valid Massachusetts drivers' license and current Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger (P), School Bus (S), and Air Brakes Endorsements.
  • Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV) School Bus Driver Certificate and meets minimum commercial driver's license medical standards.
  • Good driving record, knowledge of roads, and surrounding towns, along with skill and knowledge to operate vehicles over varied roads for extended periods under different climatic conditions.
  • Acceptable CORI and National Criminal Background Check results, effective written and oral communication skills, and professional references.
