The Security Officer plays a vital role in maintaining a secure environment at Carle Health, safeguarding employees, patients, visitors, physicians, and property. This position requires a proactive approach to identifying and resolving potentially harmful situations or risks.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct floor patrols within the hospital and medical offices to ensure a secure environment.
- Restrain patients with minimum force, avoiding injuries to patients or others, while implementing appropriate procedures.
- Perform contraband safety searches for behavioral patients and provide safe and proper disposition of contraband.
- Collect patient valuables, record, and secure them in the security valuables cabinet.
- Provide patient escorts to ensure patient and staff safety.
- Offer motor vehicle assistance to staff, visitors, and patients, including jump-starting vehicles and assisting with flat tires.
- Respond to all alarm activations and investigate the cause, conducting monthly testing of panic alarms and emergency call stations.
- Maintain the recording and storage of lost & found items in the Security found item closet.
Candidates must possess a driver's license and obtain a Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) Card within six months. Additional requirements include training in the application of clinical violent restraints.
