Job Summary

The Golf Shop Supervisor is responsible for assisting with the operations and management of the golf pro shop and clubhouse. This role requires a high level of customer service, supervisory skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise operations, including opening and closing of the facility, ordering and maintaining supplies, and cash handling and bank deposits.
  • Supervise work of other seasonal employees and volunteers, including scheduling and training.
  • Assist with inventory controls and ensure cleanliness of the pro shop and clubhouse.
  • Ensure NOVA Parks safety, business standards, and other standards are being followed.
  • Assist with public relations and customer service, including greeting visitors, handling inquiries, and providing information and assistance.
  • Interpret NOVA Parks rules and regulations.
  • Assist with golf tournaments and special events as needed.
  • Prepare and maintain appropriate records.
  • Operate and assist with the management of the golf course tee sheet and point of sale system.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings and in-service training.
  • Report unsafe conditions to course management.
Requirements
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • High school diploma and two years of progressively responsible experience in customer service, golf course management, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Must have certification or be able to obtain certification in the 'Training for Intervention Program' (TIPS) for serving alcoholic beverages.
  • Working knowledge of and experience in the game of golf and operation of a facility.
  • Knowledge and experience in the operation of a retail merchandise facility.
  • Working knowledge of NOVA Parks standards and ability to adhere to standards.
  • Demonstrated supervisory skills.
  • Ability to deal effectively with the public.
  • Ability to be flexible in meeting a variety of demands and conditions.
  • Ability to operate a cash register.
  • Working knowledge of computers.
  • Strength and dexterity necessary to perform all required tasks, including lifting, stooping, bending, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
  • Ability to perform a variety of duties, including custodial tasks.
  • Availability to work a variable work schedule, including early and late hours, and weekends and holidays.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain necessary licenses or certifications.
