Certified Medication Aide Job Description

Coral Rehabilitation and Nursing of Arlington is seeking a skilled Certified Medication Aide to join our team. As a Certified Medication Aide, you will play a vital role in providing supportive services to our nurses and other staff members, while also performing duties as assigned.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist residents with or perform activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, and grooming, in accordance with care plans and established policies and procedures.
  • Assist residents with lifting, turning, moving, positioning, and transporting into and out of beds, chairs, bathtubs, wheelchairs, lifts, etc.
  • Coordinate dining room services at assigned mealtimes, including set-up and clean-up, meal tray delivery, feeding assistance, and documentation of meal intake.
  • Deliver nutritional supplements to residents at assigned times and provide assistance as necessary to ensure intake.
  • Assist with weighing residents according to facility policy, and record weight in designated locations.
  • Report weight changes to nurse and supervisor.
  • Assist with tracking the condition of the resident's skin, and report any presence of pressure areas, skin breakdown or skin tears to nurse and supervisor.
  • Assist nursing staff in carrying out toileting program activities.
  • Complete flow sheets daily to indicate that the specified task was done, and document the progress of each resident as directed by supervisor.
  • Keep nurse and supervisor informed of factors that interfere with being able to perform the work as assigned.
  • Report changes in a resident's condition to the resident's nurse and supervisor.

Requirements:

  • Certified Nursing Assistant in good standing with the state.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification.
  • At least one year of experience as a certified nursing assistant in long-term care.

  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
  • Must be a supportive team member, contribute to and be an example of teamwork.
  • Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.
  • Must have patience, tact, and willingness to deal with difficult residents, family and staff.
  • Must be able to relay information concerning a resident's condition.
  • Must not pose a threat to the health and safety of other individuals in the workplace.
  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
  • Meets general health requirements according to facility policy, including medical and physical exams and checking immunity status to various infectious diseases.
  • Ability to work beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary.
  • Ability to assist in evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, perform overhead lifting and perform other common physical movements as needed for the position.

Compliance will be a factor in evaluating job performance. Violations, including failure to report violations, will result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination.
