What You'll Do:

Join the Spotter team as a Lead Cloud Operations Engineer and take a pivotal role in cloud innovation. This key position requires a seasoned professional with a profound understanding of AWS, along with expertise in container technologies (Docker/Kubernetes), extensive experience with Terraform, and a passion for the Trunk Based Development methodology in software development. Your skills will drive our mission to design, implement, and optimize our high-performance AWS infrastructure.
  • Design, deploy, and manage our AWS infrastructure, supporting our diverse array of applications and services.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand infrastructure needs and create scalable, reliable solutions.
  • Enhance software delivery by establishing and managing robust CI/CD pipelines.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and management, utilizing your expertise in Terraform.
  • Develop and refine monitoring and alerting systems to ensure optimal system availability and performance.
  • Leverage Kubernetes to streamline the orchestration of containerized applications and improve deployment management.
  • Continuously enhance our infrastructure for improved scalability, security, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Quickly troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure-related issues, ensuring minimal downtime and high system reliability.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in DevOps and cloud infrastructure.
Who You Are:
  • 7+ years of experience in DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE).
  • You are a developer and know how to apply software engineering principles to DevOps.
  • You understand, have practiced, embraced, and are passionate about the Trunk Based Development / mono repo approach to software development.
  • Extensive experience in architecting and implementing AWS infrastructure, including services like VPC, EC2, S3, RDS, and IAM.
  • Thorough understanding of containerization technologies such as Kubernetes and managing containerized environments.
  • Proficient in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform for provisioning and managing cloud resources.
  • Experience in Terraform module development, code modulation, and internal tool development.
  • A solid understanding of CI/CD principles and experience with tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or AWS CodePipeline.
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools such as CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, or similar platforms.
  • Exceptional troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, particularly concerning cloud infrastructure and deployment pipelines.
  • Knowledge of security best practices and experience in implementing secure cloud environments.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and meeting project deadlines.
  • Professional certifications such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or AWS Certified SysOps Administrator are preferred.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
