About the Position

We are seeking a highly qualified faculty member to join our team as the Medical Director and Educator of the Center of Operational Medicine. This is a unique opportunity to lead a team of instructors, staff, and faculty in providing exceptional education and training in emergency medicine.

Responsibilities

  • Administration
    • Supervise and lead a team of instructors, staff, and faculty in the Center of Operational Medicine.
    • Provide leadership and oversight for the National Training Center East for the National Disaster Life Support Foundation (NDLSF) program.
    • Collaborate with the AU Critical Event Preparedness and Response (CEPAR) team and Health System Disaster coordination.
    • Act as liaison with regional and state EMS offices, as well as other organizations such as the National Association of EMS Physicians, Georgia EMT Association, and the National Association of EMTs.
    • Act as liaison with FBI and GBI personnel, as well as other Federal and State law enforcement agency personnel.
  • Training and Education
    • Supervise, instruct, and coordinate tactical medicine education and training courses, including TCCC, TECC, and STORM.
    • Assure support for local Special Response Teams (SRT).
    • Supervise, instruct, and coordinate Critical Care Transport and Critical Care Paramedic training.
    • Coordinate medical support for special events in the community.
    • Coordinate and conduct other continuing educational programs, including Basic Trauma Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Basic Life Support, pre-hospital pediatric educational programs, and EMS in-service programs.
  • Quality and Research
    • Assist in conducting research projects in a clinical or laboratory setting.
    • Identify funding opportunities and participate in grant preparation and submission.
    • Supervise Quality Improvement processes for EMS services, including the response vehicle program.
    • Assure that special equipment, medications, and supplies required for EMS service and concierge medicine are properly maintained and functional.

Requirements

  • Terminal degree.
  • Assistant Professor: Early level career as a faculty member with appropriate postgraduate training.
  • Associate Professor: Mid-level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.
  • Professor: Senior-level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.
