Ryder System is seeking a highly skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing routine maintenance and repairs on our fleet of heavy-duty vehicles.
Key Responsibilities- Perform routine maintenance tasks, including oil changes, brake and tire work, and other preventative maintenance procedures.
- Diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computer tools.
- Complete detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision.
- Replace defective components as instructed.
- Work unsupervised on most tasks and interact with customers/drivers to determine the nature of complaints.
- Utilize key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation available.
- Work in accordance with all federal and corporate compliance guidelines.
- Act as a mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels.
- Demonstrate the ability to access and use internal and external maintenance documents.
- Perform other support duties as required to support operations.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Vocational or technical certification or post-secondary degree preferred.
- Basic tools required.
- Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines.
- Three years or more relevant work experience preferred.
- Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred.
- All other certification as required by location required.
- Competitive hourly pay rate.
- Certification bonus of $100 for each new ASE certification obtained up to $700.
- Quarterly bonus: Ryder pays up to $500 every quarter - four times per year.
- Sign-on bonus: Ryder pays $1750 at 30 days and $1750 at 90 days.
- Annual merit pay increases every year.
